They are hand-knotted in India, using 9/25 quality Nepalese knots. Nepalese knotting originated from Tibetan knotting, and is a process wherein a continuous length of yarn is wrapped over a rod, which is laid across the rug while it is stretched over the loom. A knife is then slid along the rod, which splits the wrapped yarn into two rows of pile tufts. The 9/25 quality grade indicates that there are approximately 56 knots per square inch. This durable, finely crafted rug will last for generations.
